Austin Pomroy (deceased) was born in Madison county, N. Y., Jan. 23, 1804, son of John and Deborah (Foster) Pomroy, natives of Connecticut. He came to this county in 1835 and bought 160 acres of land on sec. 30, Concord tp.; return to New York that fall, and April 28, 1836 was married to Betsey Randall, daughter of Henry and Sarah (Robinson) Randall. They immediately moved to his farm in this county, where he remained until his death, which occurred March 23, 1877. He was several times elected to the office of County Surveyor, and also held various offices of trust in the tp. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and one of its elders for 34 years. He was loved and esteemed by all who knew him.
